Bay Shore EM embarked on it's inaugural Winter Wilderness Medicine Day this month. Thanks to our chairman, Dr. Sanjey Gupta, Wilderness Medicine is a huge part of our curriculum. Following the success of our Summer Wilderness Day, our residents were hungry for more. Our team traveled to the North Shore of Long Island to Caumsett State Park to escape the suburban confines of Bay Shore. With the help of guest faculty, Dr. Philipp Underwood (NSUH) and Dr. Armin Gollogly (Mount Sinai Morningside/West), as well as one of our PGY2's, Dr. Kyle Kim, our residents learned how to manage lightning strikes, hypothermia, and other cold weather survival skills. We can't wait for our next Wilderness Day this summer!
